VvTe have been unable to furnish the information, as we h:tve seen no ad vertisement of oil manufactories. -,-The Atlanta Confederacy say3 there are several such in the southern States, bat does not mention where they are located. The Confederacy pertinently asks, "why don't these establishments advertise?'' . Jf any one will send us the information we will pub lish it gratis. Oil is needed in this section. Tue Republican Army. Mr Cameron, Lin coln's Secretary of War, in his report to Congress says there are 225,000 troops in service and 75,000 not yet accepted; and that if all the three months volunteers (80,000) go home, there will still be 220,000 in service. Some of the black republican papers are com plaining about the slow progress the army of sub jugation is making, aud threaten to array the army against the Government if more vigor is not dis played against the South. These silly fellows, if they would join the army themselves, would very soon find out the cause of the slow progress of the northern army, viz: the opposition of the "rebels" and such affairs as that of Bethel church.' ' The want of money will soon be another cause of the slow progress 'pf the northern army. When Lin coln's treasury becomes empty, the 220,000 troops mentioned above will feel the necessity of support ing themselves, which they will be obliged to do by robbing their own cities and town9. That day is not far off. "-. Somf. Reason left. It appears that all the uorthcrn peoplo have not lost their reason and common sense. It has been stated heretofore that Ex-Gov. Seymour, of Conn., opposed the war reso lutions in the Legislature of that State, He made a speech against them", for which he wag bitteily assailed and denounced "by the black lepublican members. Tie was sustained by IS democratic members; not enough,, however, to check the fana- ties. Niuety-one members of. tho. I For ' of years thereafter, peace and pi 1 ; plenty smiled upon our land: our growth and i prosperity arc unexampled, in the annals of the world; like of brothers we dwelt together j in unity; a common destiny and a feeling of mutual dependence cemented the tics that bound ns; a pure and unselfish patriotism taught us, to our sor row, to know no North no South; our proudest boast was to be called n American citizen; the separate and peculiar interests and institutions of each were acknowledged and respected, till in sidiously crept in the demon of fanaticism which for a period of twenty years has openly threatened and assailed our domestic peace and happiness. We have remonstrated; our remonstrances hav heen disregarded; we have entreated them; they have turned a deaf ear to our entreaties ; we have warned them again and again; they have treated our. warning with cold . indifference, we have en dured "till endurance is no longer a virtue," and now only is left us the alternative of becoming the abject slaves of the North, or nsserting our inde pendence by an' appeal to arms. Never was a cause more just; our rights, our liberty, our all hang trembling in the balance. Let this nerve your arms and steel your swords. Every incentive which blind passion and diabolical rage can sug gest, have been urged to arouse to madness and to deeds of blood the abject menials of their popu lous cities, who have eked out a miserable sub sistence by murder, theft and robbery. Our Con federacy is to be subdued by means which have never been countenanced by any civilized nation of earth, and from which even a savage would turn in scorn and horror. Flood, fire and the hand of the midnight assassin, have been deliberately pro posed as means to accomplish fheir fiendish pur pose. After we are conquered, our fertile fields are to be parcelled out to their brutal soldiery. (i Beauty and booty" is the watchword of the vandal hordes who are to conquer and possess our homes. You will soon take your stand on the borders ot our Confederacy, there to meet a foe, perhaps your superior iu number, and 6tung to madness by the reflection that the stars and stripes which they oft had boasted had never been lowered before an enemy, was made to trail in the dust by our gallant little sister South Carolina. While manfully battling for your homes, re member that you stand upon the soil sacred as the birth place of Washington y remember that you are from 'the Waxhaws, the birth-place of Jack-,-on, and . that their pure spirits will . overshadow you with their wings, and lead you on to victory, ilemember that everything you hold dear depends upon the issue of tha contest. But to remind you of these things is superfluous : a Carolinian's honor is dearer to hitn-fhan life; and to imagine for one moment,'.. that you will . prove aught than worthy sons of a noble ancestry would be insult ing to your pride, to your manhood and to your I i a-irotot "aint the I P-riotismV ' -. " - J. J. W. NEGRO WOMAN HUNG FOR POISON ING A CHILD. Fleasant Ridgi:, Gaston co, N. C, July H. With a view to prevent the ninny exaggerated reports which, in those troublous times, may grow out of the following circumstances, we havo conclu ded to give the facts to the public, as they occurred, in an authentic form: Mr.-!). A. denkins, some few weeks since, had a rhi!d to die under peculiar circumstances, ami from' facts subsequently elicited, induced a euspi ciou emouptiug almost to a certainty, of the child having beeu poisoned. Eliza, a negro woman belonging to Mr Jenkins, was suspected of being guilty -'of the crime; and at the' request of .Mr Jen kin3, the Vigilant Committee of the neighborhood, together with a number of citizens, met st his house on Monday, Sth in?t, for the purpose of fully investigating the affair.-- ; -' ' ' ' The Vigilanca Gomniittec organized by calling Ezra B.
